What are the main characteristics of the Vanquish Volante?
The key thing is that it builds upon the Vanquish Coupe in terms of performance. It’s more capable and dynamic than any other GT that Aston Martin has ever built. This is because of the VH architecture on which it’s built; the body structure
is 14% torsionally stiffer than the DBS Volante, which preceded it. This makes it highly resistant to flex and allows for responsive and predictable handling. It’s the first fully carbon fibre-skinned Volante in our history and also the stiffest Volante body structure yet created by Aston Martin. Finally, the new car’s triple-skin lightweight fabric roof takes just
14 seconds to unfold.
What else breaks
new ground?
The Vanquish Volante is practical
as well as beautiful—the boot is
50% bigger than that of the DBS Volante, which is a dramatic increase. Meanwhile, the
windscreen is now full height—another first for Aston Martin—
which means that the glass runs up to the fabric roof, achieving a particularly clean transition.
How does it measure up
on the road, compared with the coupe?
The top speed is identical to that
of the Vanquish Coupe, so you
do not lose anything in terms
of performance, ensuring that
the new car supports its Super
GT billing.
Are there any other influences on the
new Volante?
A number of the styling cues, such as the elegant waist, elongated side strakes and LED rear-light blades, are derived from the One-77. The centre stack is also a direct descendant of the One-77, with refinements providing a more elegant form that is also more intuitive and accessible for both driver and front seat passenger, while featuring a new infotainment system and a significantly more
user-friendly design.
Who is the new vanquish volante aimed at?
The Vanquish Volante will be the perfect car for anybody who wants the best of both worlds: the performance of the Coupe combined with the opportunity to roll down
the roof and enjoy the sunshine on
a hot summer’s day. The Volante
also offers you the chance to alter the look of your car by selecting
the colour of the roof: choices include a sporty black or a variety
of luxurious options.
Where would you take
the Vanquish Volante
for a drive?
It would have to be on the Côte d’Azur. That way you could enjoy the magnificent scenery along the coast, with the sun beating down, before going up into the mountains above Monaco and seeing what the car can do handling and performance-wise.
